Glossy BSDF not reflecting light

Hi all, noob question here.

I'm trying to make a shiny metallic looking cube that spins.

I setup a rounded cube mesh and made the surface Glossy BSDF with 1 overhead light...but for some reason it only reflects light when there's a flat surface straight on like this: ... 6.png?dl=0

As you can see by the 4th frame it looks like there's not overhead light at all. Any ideas on how to fix this? This does NOT happen with the Diffuse BSDF, but I need the cube to look shiny.

Ideally I want to find a metal texture and UVwrap it around, but I still want the cube to look shiny.

have you tried to unwrap it and put a bumpmap on it?
If so, is the light acting differently?
