Dark Scarab Badges

A new feature coming with DS8 will be badges! The idea is to award badges for completing tasks or hitting milestones. I haven't decided on any badges yet, so I thought it might be fun if I let you guys come up with badges that you think I should include on the site.

So, if you'd like to help me out, just post a list of badges you think DS should have and how to earn each badge. Nothing fancy, quick one liners will do. As we go, I can compile the list in the first post.

100 posts - ?
1000 posts - ?
10000 posts - ?
1 submission - Show and Tell
10 submissions - Quantity Over Quality
25 submissions (and so on) - Showoff!
1st tutorial - Teacher of Skills
5 tutorials - Teacher of Patience
10 tutorials - Master Teacher
member for x amount of time - ?(1Y), ?(2Y), ?(3Y), ?(4Y), Senior Citizen(5Y)

Or something like that? Is this what you wanted? ^^

Yep, perfect! The basic idea is to create a fun way to encourage people to add content to the site. Milestones (like you've posted) and challenges are the two general types of badges I had in mind. For example, challenges might include "Hot Streak: Submit a work to DS 5 days in a row." or "Likable: Earn 50 likes on 5 different submissions."

Here are the kinds of places I'm taking inspiration from, if anyone is curious:

Stack Overflow
Khan Academy
Xbox Game Achievements

Also, just like the ranks and points, badges can be something we can come back to from time to time and add/remove/update as needed.

you could have different types of badges too like khan academy, they have moon, meteorite and so on.
You could have Polygon, Topology, Post-pro and so on

That would fit the Blender theme of the site ^^

I like that! Here's another idea for each level of badges:

Vertex
Edge
Polygon
Mesh

One neat thing if we have 4 badge levels is that it fits nicely with the number of ranks we will have (8). We could give a badge for each rank, 8 badges for being a member for certain periods of time, 8 badges for posting in the forum, 8 badges for each submission type, and maybe 8 challenge type badges. I think that would give us a really solid start to build off of with a solid 64 badges.

I'm pretty sure I've only tried that once. Then again, maybe that was the one time...

Anyways, getting back on topic. I put together a possible list of badges. Haven't put in names yet though, so I'm wide open to suggestions until I get to that.
