Blender 2.49

Blender 2.49

Postby johncaldwell » June 18th, 2009, 8:18 am

Hi, I was wondering if perhaps you could help me with Blender 2.49. It wont open on my MacBook Pro. I'm using OS 10.4.11 and The processor is an intel 1.86 GHz Core duo with 2 gigs ram. I requested help from Blenderartists.org . I am aware that you need Pyton 2.5 for the new blender to work, so I downloaded Python 2.6.2 from the python site and went through the install process but Blender still wont open. I wish someone would make some tutorials on how to install and use python, especially on the Mac. Whenever anyone talks of Python, they say, OH just open up a terminal window and blah blah blah. It's like I'm in that cartoon where the guy is talking to the dog and all the dog heres is gibberish. Also, I wanted to tell you that the PDF document for your car tutorial doesnt work. Anyway, Hope you can help.

Hmm I seem to remember hearing somewhere that you have to run Blender form the 2.5 Python, it wont work with any newer version, I might be wrong there though.

Can you post what the console says when you try and open Blender, not sure if i'll be able to help as I'm a relatively new Mac user.

When I installed 2.48, they made me download a "C Redistribitive Package" or something like that, updating my C programming language on my Windows. If 2.48 was working for you, I see no reason why it wouldn't work when switching up to 2.49. Did 2.48 work for you?

And yes, what error message are you reading?

DFL, he's using OSX so I don't think that would apply.

Really? I don't use Apple, so I wouldn't know, it was just a shot in the dark..
