A portrait WIP

A portrait WIP

Postby bonrw1 » December 14th, 2014, 10:05 am

Hey all!

I will be recording my project progress on these forums, and hopefully (with you're help) be able to achieve a realistic looking human portrait in blender.
the software I will be using will be blender, photoshop, crazybump, and I will render in Cycles.
And the addons I will be using will be: Polystrips and contours retoplogy, layer management, mesh lint, zerobrush, sculpt tools.

I hope you join and help me through this process!

Basemesh

Postby bonrw1 » December 14th, 2014, 10:14 am

I have finished the main sculpt, and have completed the retoplogy. I am just tweaking the basemesh now!
Any Criticism and comments are welcome.

Looks good! Could we see a wireframe of it?

What i think could be tweaked is the width of the mouth. I think it should be a tad bit wider, but thats just me :P
Its is looking awesome, cant wait to see this with skin and those eyes :D

I found some good skin pore alpha maps, so once I have got all the shapes right in my mesh, I can start painting the details like pores and wrinkles! :)

Looking good to me! The changes to the mouth definitely make it better. I can't really make solid crits on the topology and whatnot, since I have very little experience modeling humans, but it looks pretty good to my untrained eye. :)

Thanks for the feedback! :D The only thing that you need to worry about in human head topology is good edge flow around the eyes and mouth. ;)

Here is a bit of an update...just tweaking some stuff here and there. The eyes are just quick pieces of geometry I put in to test, so they aren't great at the moment, I will add fully textured and shaded ones as I work on the shaders.

Looking good!
But it seems like you sculpted with mirror on, that shows when rendering, especially on the neck and around the eyes.

Yep, that's because I start with symmetry, then take it off for when I'm doing fj e details ;) I'll fix that tomorrow!
