I've never set up a rendering network, although there are times where the would be nice. Not sure about the book either, looks like it could be good. Personally I find myself what I can online. Never been one for textbooks myself because my mind always wonders too easily. Unless it is a school assignment, then I can get myself to focus for that. I guess I am a more hands on person.

I could get it to work with Luxrender. It would be based on S/px in a certain time frame, like an hour. What that means is that you can set a render time limit in the Luxrender export script, and after that time limit is up, you tell how many S/px Luxrender shows.
Off Topic:

I wonder where Nismo went... He used to use Luxrender a bunch, too...

speaking of network rendering, is there a way to network bake? because if there was.... that would be so useful, i've had like 30 or so fluid simulations that have take anywhere from 3 hours to 37 hours, it sucks, because sometimes my sister closes blender and i have to start again..

I think you'd have to code that yourself, and I don't know where you'd start with that. Maybe you should just beat your sister up?

Have you not heard about David and the giant Goliath? One stone and David was victorious :P
Goliath was probably way older than David :P

But you shouldnt beat your sister up even if you could ^^ Get another computer just for yourself instead when you have enough money ^^
