Better Lighting tutorial

hi, how do i make my lighting better to make my scene some what realistic.i'll load the scene which contains only a fish bowl with doesn't look good.maybe the reason is bcoz of bad lighting or my bad model.

Um, I'd like to see the model... I would suggest doing mesh (plane) lighting, and then making it really powerful, and really small... The smaller the plane, the sharper the shadows... Play with color as well, but keep the saturation below .1... ;) I'd do a tutorial, but I have a horrible mic :(
