how would one go about making a explosion, say when something hits it it explodes or something any help would be appreciated being that i have no i dea on how to do anything with explosions in blender, and i would like to know how to do this in 2.5 thanks

You can do this very easily in 2.5, because there's a smoke simulator now. Be aware that it takes lots of CPU power, lots of RAM, and lots of hard drive space, but there's a great tutorial in the tutorials section. Combine that with some particles and some animation and compositing, and you'll get yourself a great looking explosion! I'd make a proof-of-concept for you, but i'm busy doing other stuff right now. :P
