Join two disconnected edges in an object

Join two disconnected edges in an object

Postby Blood55 » January 6th, 2011, 8:17 am

Hi;

I am trying to smooth out areas of a mess started as a plane. Because I am new with this I used subdivide and it created triangles. I cut out that area of the plane leaving a V shape cut out in the plane. I would like to join, snap, or something the edges or verticies that are left. I have gone into edit mode and tried snapping and that doesn't bring it together. I have tried pulling them together and trying deleting duplicates and that didn't work. I have tried using Alt B to select edges and then pressing F and that doesn't do anyting either.

How do you close this area?

You could select two vertices at a time and then press ALT+M to merge them.

Hi;

I tried selecting each side of the open V and then doing Alt M. My choices are At Center, At Cursor and Collapse.

In each case this does not join the points together on each side of the V. It joins all of the points into on point in the middle of the V creating more triangles. I want to be able to have each point merge with the other cooresponding point on the opposite side of the V so I have Quads.

Is there a way to do this?

You could do it by selecting only two vertices at a time and merging them.
You could also select each vertice on each side, the scale them towards eachother(press either S+Y, S+X or S+Z) but instead of scaling with your mouse just press 0(example: S+X+0)
