The Release of Star Craft 2!

The Release of Star Craft 2!

Postby djm » July 14th, 2010, 6:10 pm

Anyone else here excited about this? I mean.. this will be a complete turn, in the history of gaming as we know it. RTS has been lifted to a new level. IF you haven't yet seen the new editor they've made for SC 2 I highly recommend you to visit Gametrailers.com and watch the video where they show you what you can do, WITHOUT using special coding systems!
Pure Awesomeness!
Anyhow, since I'm a Star Craft fan and has always been, I decided to pre-order it today (yah, new date today - 04:10 am is the time here right now). I've been playing the closed BETA for a while now as well as trying the pirate copies where you play Single Player Skirmishes, only, against badly programmed AIs. Anyhow, I like the game, good graphics, awesome physics, cool new units, sweet looking Story Mode/Campain. And on top of it all, this will be released in a 3-CD package. They are releasing the first one July 27th - 'Wings of Liberty' which is the Terran (humans). The Zerg Part will be the next one, at least that what they announced on the E3 09. The Protoss Part will be released as well, eventually. Although, they are planning to release the two other parts next year, I think they'll hang on to one of them, if not both, for another year and make some special tweaks. Anyway, the parts works as a regular game except for the campain part. You will only be able to play the Terran campain on 'Wings of Liberty'. But when playing online, through Battle.net, or skrimish, you'll be able to choose between all three races; Terran, Zerg and Protoss.

For thos who haven't yet tried it out, I highly recommend a second thought about pre-ordering, or at least buying it after the release, so you like every other RTS/Star Craft fan, can see what an amazing game it really has become.

10 years has passed since the release of Brood War, and it's still a best seller series all over the world :)

I'll see. I never played the first one, and I can't compete with some of those hardcore RTS gamers, but it might be fun to try. The unfortunate thing is I don't have lot's of money, so it might be some time before I can try it.

Well, you should try the first one before this one. So you can see what a major difference it is between these two games. I mean, 10+ years has passed since Brood War (Star Craft 1 expansion) was released!

My brother pre-ordered the game months ago and has been doing the Beta for some time now. It looks pretty nice. Haven't played it myself yet.

Nice! It went on pre-ordering-sale here in Sweden today (the day I ordered it). And you really got to try it out. I told Brektzar to try it out as well, since I have the BETA, but he said no. Guess he can't accept the fact that it really is a great game. Anyhow, Irascible, try it! You'll love it! (if you love RTS).

I think I'll check it out. Some of my friends are buying it, and I'll try it. Maybe I'll buy it if it's fun. So the beta's good?

Well, it's the beta.. Everything gets balanced, fixed, graphical bugs gets fixed and so on. And as every other beta, it's for whoing the players how the game is, and what it looks like. And as far as I know, SC 2 has got some crazy ass graphics (sorry for my way of expressing myself), but seriously.. the graphics are superb! They have added some more tweeks to the RTS-platform they have too, such as; gravity (parts doesn't disappear when they hit the ground/slopes/ramps), more visual FX (explosions now occur everytime there has to be one, and not one BOOM on one enemy), weapons hit on target and leave marks, on the targets armor (the textures change?). And much much more. And since this will be a trilogy of games, the campains are enormous, and interactive, haha. They managed to add some interactions between every mission. I can't really explain everything here, since the post would get too long, so check out gametrailers.com for more info/videos about it.
