A Game!

I'd be interested in helping w/ voices, but I don't know what else I can do well enough to help. Voices are fun though.

Joakim, perhaps you should tell us/them about how much detail you want on items, characters and textures and the world.

Joakim and i talked abiot, he wants it to be an OW(open world game) in other words you can run anywhere anytime, however in some places it wont, in some places it will be one way to go forth and one way back so to speak.

Im not sure he has thought out any more detail about it yet.

And spartan, you can help out, theres no need for it to be super nice as everything will be low or mid poly. I think joakim is would be glad even if you only helped with voices, but i think that modelling would be greatly appreciated too :P

Hello Fellows!

Long time no see, sadly.

I talked to Joakim and he asked for my help with some music and voice stuff.

Im not too sure about how to make the music.
And that's why i want some tips and hints. Especially from joakim, but many ideas wont hurt.

I read that it would be like zelda, but in the future. and i don't think the "zelda-kind" of music would fit so well in a sci-fi game ;)

This might be right, but i think that the music sets the mood, and you can use trance in a kid game, meaning the game probably is fast paced, while zelda music is slower and harmonic, that game probably takes time. And if this will be anything like Zelda, it shouldnt be a game played in a fast way, it should be a game played in a slow mode :P taking your time to do stuff. And even if it is sci-fi the music should still fit in, i say that you go for music like that in Zelda twilight princess or ocarina of time. :P

Thats what i think xD

Okey, I've been working on some "first-look" paintings of the main characters, accesories and such in Illustrator for a while now and so far I've only finished the looks of Sheldin and one of Sonny's masks.

Sheldin's first look:
SHOW SPOILER
Image

Sheldin is the character from the foreign planet which is the target of Darbus great attack. Although he may look human, his eyes, body, height, movements and thoughts are far beyond our own. He's very special and powerfull.

Sonny's Mask:
SHOW SPOILER
Image

This mask, called The Avenger, is the symbol of great evil. It's powers are beyond your biggest imagination. although it might look a tad weak it brings chaos to all who dares to face it's wearer. You have been warned! :D

Since me and Adam (Novacore) will make the music I've decided to make some samples so you guys can listen to it, decide wether or not it should be in the game. The pictures and songs posted here are only samples. The final themes and pictures will be posted in another thread when they're finished.

I need your opinions on WHERE the songs would fit the best aswell. I have my opinions but a second one doesn't hurt. And at the end, when the tunes are done we'll vote where to put them as a final.

The tracks:
SHOW SPOILER
The titles of the songs are my opinion on where to put them.

Character Select

Destruction (don't know where to put this..)

Nerudian Technology Entrance (The entrance to the robotics facility)

Rush (Theme for fast-pased scenes, mainly for the cinematics)

Title Screen Theme

Tracks I haven't yet decided where to put or even think about putting:

Let me know what you think!

Those sound good to me. They seem to fit well with what you have them set out for, in my opinion.

The only thing I noticed was the the title screen one is really quiet compared to all the other ones. Had to turn the volume up quite a bit to hear it.

Thanks for telling me, IrascibleOne! I'll be right on it and increase the volume on it. With that I might add something extra aswell. All I can say though is that the volume problem will be fixed.

As for the rest of the group I need some ideas. Ideas for the rest of the songs. If you check the list I do have I don't know, 5, maybe 6 songs done already (and a few more NOT uploaded due to bad Quality). So as I said, I need some tips and ideas for the rest.

Ideas I need help with:

Envoirement, battle scenes, character themes, starter/outro themes, cinematic effects, extras, group theme etc. What I mean is.. write down places for example; "Nature song would be great". And I'll fix a song which I think would fit in a forest and upload it. You'll let me know what you all think and when that is done I'll make the changes mentioned. Since this is a Community-Project I want every participant to be a part of the music aswell of the rest. Please be noted that some changes may be made without further notice. Anyhow, lets get to work!

[Project started 1st of March 2010 and will continue as a Project until that day we consider it as finished or put on "pause" for a little while due to personal reasons or other possible reasons. Since I'm the Project Leader I want each and everyone to show themselves active in this project and that's why I've made up my mind about what Brektzar told me; "Make working-documentaries". After each day, that you've spent on working with this, I want you to write down something you've done and how far you made it on that exact point. Yes, this is really neccesary since I need to be aware of how far we've gotten and approximetly how long it will take to make a descent game out of my particular ideas combined with your creativity. If you have any questions what so ever please contact me, or Brektzar (You can contact me through him since he's here more often than I am due to school, work on the music, concept art and storyline of the game). End of Message!]

They cant do much until you tell them more specificly what you want ;) or maybe i should say we cant do much :P For example, detailed info on how detailed the graphics are allowed to be, how many vertices etc.

Since I'm talking about the Flash Demo right now, Brektzar, you don't have a part of the project (yet). In the Demo you will play as Sonny short after the war began. Just to test sounds, fx, characters, skins, voices, scenery etc. When we start to work on the full 3D-version our main goal is to fix the animations since the sounds, music and everything that has to do with sounds will be done by that time (hopefully). Voice-acting will take place later on when we've found away to keep in touch as much as possible even with the "not so active" members here. I prefer skype, since we're gonna use our voices in the game. But if not skype then all I can go with is MSN/yahoo or simple mail. It's up to you. But for now we'll just work on what's neccersary for the demo. I need to know, who here can code flash, paint in flash and animate in flash? I can code gravity, movement and actions but I suck at animating, adding scenes, menus and that stuff.

And for you guys who will work with the 3D part, try make a 3D version of Sheldin and/or the mask. Post the picture(s) here (maps are not needed). I just need to see what it will look like in 3D so I know what I should add/change.

I also need everyone of you to visit this topic once in a while since I'm uploading new pictures and new tracks as soon as they are finished. I can't make notices on it and spamming everyone with mail would not be appreciated so yah, keep in mind that a visit will only help us on this project! Feel free to write down ideas you might have about scenery, characters, weapons, looks and such so that my painting-work will be more fluent since I am in a lack of ideas right now.
