The traveller returns..

The traveller returns..

Postby Dicon » March 5th, 2010, 8:42 am

And find the goal posts have been moved. I am now using Blender 2.49b and am unable to blend a texture onto a mesh, as the old book has a very different way of doing it. I keep getting "graphic not found" Any pointers to an up to date way of doing this ( or even an instruction book) will be a very help.
I used to do quite well with simple meshes and hand drawn graphics, but cannot now, and would like to re-start my studies with Blender.
Thanks.

Hmm, im not sure if you can use blenders materials in your game, but in the material section you have an option thats called "texface" click it and the UV will be aplied, at least inside blender ;)
Another way of doing it is to first do the UV mapping with the image and then choose the image as a texture, after youve done that you cahnge the texture to UV(in the material section, find the texture tab and look for "map to" next to it)

Hope i helped and that this solves your issue :)

OH!

Welcome to DS! Sorry I didn't say it sooner.

And Brektzar, in my opinion, you shouldn't even have that line in your signature. You English is great and I have never had a problem with reading/understanding anything you have posted.

While I am here....
:?:
Are there any good Blender Tutorials describing texturing and "Baking" anywhere, either in book form or on the web?
I find the many.. many... many buttons confusing. And the instructions in the books incomplete.
I will keep looking.
My background is 2D graphics. I used to work for Level9, years ago until they folded. A really nice small company. Now I am trying to create a folio of work, but although I can handle meshes quite well and can create textures, I cannot get them to "Bake" on. It's very fraustrating.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

I have found the only tutorial tha actualy worked for me, because it also is suited to various versions of Blender.
It is http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D ... Map_Basics
AND I could understand it.
Now I can start modeling.
