Not sure what Blackbox is (video game developer, video game store?), but how well somethings gets compressed depends on what you are compressing. I'd assume they are using an existing compression method that works well for video games. Unless Blackbox decompresses the files for you, you can probably tell by the file extension of the file you download.

Ok, I see. Bin is usually used with CDs as far as I know, so I assume those are just the files people ripped from the video game disks. I do not think .bin itself includes any compression, but my knowledge in this is pretty limited here.

After checking out that site, it looks like they use RAR compression for their files. That's definitely what they use to shrink their file sizes, but beyond that I do now know the specifics of how RAR works. Someone else here might know more than me though.

Those are repacks, a repack can often refer to software that has been modified in some way to make it smaller.
Basically what they do is take that 10 gig game and remove heavy files that are usually useless, some sound and video files have no impact on the game, so those gets tossed.

Only the essential stuff to run the game and play it is left in the repack, they do not have a compression method that will halve the size of the game, its basically just a bare bones game. This is the usual repack in terms of pirated software, other repacks increase size by adding addons and mods.

As far as i know, to keep the file from getting corrupt after compression you still need to retain ALOT of its integrity in the code, so i doubt that a compression of 50% is even viable for anything software wise, perhaps someone with more recent experience with this can answer more precisely, but thats what i have :P

that is probably because the game unpacks itself during install, have you seen the full size of the game when its from a retail copy?
(oh, BTW, please do not link to websites that host or link to sites with illegal content)

What code are you referring to?

Unpack - Extract, Thats what you do when you get the compressed files out of the rar, zip, 7zip etc.

they do not
hqave a compression method that will halve
the size of the game, its basically just a
bare bones game.

you said it is not compressed then why should it unpack ( it - all primary game elements)

[EDIT]
after removing the useless files it becomes 5 gb and when we install it is again 10 gb and the useless files come back?

or do u mean it like this

game produced by the dev's 16 gb
repacker's magic spell make it around 10 gb
compress the repacked 5 gb

and when i install it is 10 gb
