Slavery of Africa -Cycles Render

Slavery of Africa -Cycles Render

Postby djm » May 8th, 2014, 6:04 am

Another small Cycles-tests of mine. Still a newbie I know but I am really happy with the outcome!

I uploaded this to a Blender group on Facebook and a guy there told me that he could see "The slavery of Africa" in it, so I decided to use that as a name for this piece.

Very good render!
The only thing i can critique is the sand :P I suggest that you add some darker grains of sand and also a good normal map.

One thing you can do is to use the particle system with tiny textured icospheres or something like that, that would give you a rough layer on top of the smooth sand texture.

Looks awesome! The second one definitely looks more realistic.

The only critique I have is where the sand meets the chain, especially where it's in focus. A little too straight, like its revealing the geometry of the chain. Have to look pretty close though.

I added a third and final stage in the process of making this scene looking as good as I can make it right now. My knowledge of cycles, particles, texturing in cycles and all that is lacking so I will return to this scene at a later stage when I know more about everything that is to know to make it look EVEN better :)

But for now, enjoy it as is! ^^
